Ray Langton better known for his work running Children's Festivals and Events at Sidmouth, Towersey, Loughborough, Beverley, Oxford, Dartmoor and this year Whitby finally took time out to produce this long awaited  CD of 24 of his own songs and tunes.  He is joined by Brian Bell (bass) and Mike Coleman (cittern and guitar) both members of the top line ceilidh band Whapweasel. It is a measure of Ray's standing in the eyes of other musicians that when he approached Brian, Brian's response was "I'd be honoured to."  Brian and Mike are joined in the line up by Hannah Edmonds (cello)who regularly performs as part of the Ruth Notman Trio,Howard Mills (clarinet) Danny Hughes (electric guitar), Greg Smallbone (percussion) from the Cuckoo Ale Band  Derek Harrison (piano) well known Shropshire based jazz pianist who fronts The Derek Harrison Trio, and Ich Mowatt (drums, bass and guitar). The result ranges from classic ceilidh to jazz influenced pieces with some great songs thrown in. Why For Curiosity? Well some of these tunes had a mind of their own and each one was given a chance to develop its own personality under the watchful eyes of Ich Mowatt at Sounding Post Studio in Nottingham. Curious? I hope so. The whole project was managed by Steve Heap of Mrs Casey Music so you can be certain that it is a fully professional product in every way.

These are surprisingly good instruments and with careful use will last a long time. It allows parents to provide their child with a cheap introductory instrument to see if the youngster will stick with it and learn how to play it before moving on to a better instrument. Tunes learnt on these instruments are readily transferable to fullsized melodeons in the more usual 'folk' keys of G/D.
